General Information

The Hamlet MicroFlex is the world’s smallest multi-format multi-standard handheld waveform, vector, audio, and picture monitor for all production and front line maintenance arenas.

Using a built-in 3.5" diagonal high quality VGA (640 x 480) TFT display shows the picture in 4:3 or 16:9 formats, with conventional waveform, vector and audio displays together with error data analysis.

Any of the six (6) easy to plug-in FlexiScope option modules allow operation in a variety of current formats and enables future standards to be accommodated, allowing easy upgrade for the user at any time.

The MicroFlex unit is capable of analysis, measurement and monitoring and generating test signals*. A full range of standards are covered including 3G, level A & B as well as HD SDI, SD SDI and composite video signals and audio in its embedded, or AES/EBU formats and generating HD SDI and SD SDI video and audio signals dependant on the installed modules.
Waveform, Vector, Audio and Picture can be monitored and measured. Coloured traces, Line Select, stuck bit detect (no activity on one data line). There is a headphone socket and a speaker on the base so the decoded audio can be monitored. Computer downloads and data uploads can be performed via USB or IP connection

The latest modules for test signal generation, or EYE monitoring still provide the conventional waveform, vector and audio displays and error data analysis - so simultaneous operation with the monitoring and measurement allows closed loop testing environments to be set up with the device/system under test.

With its special, ergonomic machined aluminium case, over three (3) hours operation (depending on modules and use) it’s a very tough instrument for those hostile environments. The 12V power supply adaptor is included. An especially co-ordinated optional carry-case with option pouches and wraps completes the package.

This product contains proprietary patented designs. US 6,493,024B1 GB2329294

FAQs

We hope some of the frequently asked question we  have had will provide assistance, if not please contact us directly or go through your supplier.

Q  What Modules are compatible with the MicroFlex
A  There are currently six (6) modules that can fit into the MicroFlex chassis
3Gb/s, HD, SD EYE Pattern and AV signal Measurement and Monitoring
HD, SD EYE Pattern and AV signal Measurement and Monitoring
3Gb/s, HD, SD AV signal Measurement and Monitoring
HD, SD TSG and AV signal Measurement and Monitoring
HD, SD AV signal Measurement and Monitoring
SD, Composite AV signal Measurement and Monitoring

Q  How do I get the Generator to work I cannot find the correct menu
A  There generator output is only available if Module 03 is fitted

Q  What are the 3 BNC’s for on a module
A  The HD/SD serial input connection is made to the centre gold plated BNC socket, which is internally terminated at 75 ohms.
The left BNC provides an equalised output of the input feed
The right BNC allows an external timing reference or AES audio signal to be input

Q  Why are the BNC’s gold on module 01 and 03?
A  The BNC’s used on the module are specially designed for the high bandwidth of the HD SDI signal

Q  Can the Modules be used stand alone?
A  The module can only be used in Hamlet modular instruments like the MicroFlex

Q  What is the weight of the MicroFlex?
A  650g

Q  What is the dimensions of the MicroFlex?
A  h 165mm x w 95mm x d 36mm.

Q  Can the MicroFlex be rack mounted?

A  Recommended batteries for use with FlexiScope are Energizer NiMh 2500mAh
AA type x 6 per unit. This make should be available world-wide.

Q  How many "error count" errors can we store on board
A  It can store about 980 error logs.

Q  Can the error count be dumped onto a USB memory stick
A  The USB port currently will communicate with a computer to accumulate error data.

Q  Unit appears dead:
A  Check that the 12V supply adaptor is plugged into the unit and that this is plugged into an operational mains supply, or if unplugged, that the batteries are fresh.

Q  No video displayed:
A  If there is no video signal connected to the selected input, the screen will display the message “No Signal”.

Q  Unusual display:
A  The unit may be set to a non-standard mode. Reset the unit as follows. Select the Data Icon [0101], then the Factory settings Icon [FCT].
